Today’s Message – 31st of January 2021
This is part one of a series of messages on the spirit, soul and body. This is who we are (see 1Thess. 5:23; Heb. 4:12). Knowing these truths will unlock revelations upon revelations, in and from God’s Word, the bible.
I can touch your shoulder from behind and you’d immediately turn to see who touched you. Your body can feel, taste, see, smell and hear. The body is the physical, visible, seen, part of you.
On the other hand the soul is invisible. It’s the part of you that’s usually referred to as the mind, will, emotions, conscience, personality.
Though invisible your soul comes alive when you’re watching a good movie. You become so tuned into the movie that certain parts will move you to tears and others make you jump up and down with joy. When that happens your soul is at work. Like your body, your soul can hear, see, smell, taste and feel words, thoughts, suggestions, ideas, etc.
The body and the soul are heavily influenced by the five senses – see, hear, smell, taste, and feel.
If I were to ask you, ‘Are you feeling hot or cold?’ you don’t have to go away and study, mediate or think long and hard about my question before you can answer. In fact as soon as I ask you whether you’re feeling hot or cold you can immediately respond, “Oh I’m feeling so cold! I need a blanket.” You are very in tune with your body.
If I were to say great things about you my words would make you feel valued, appreciated, accepted, loved. The opposite is also true if someone says bad things about you. Their words will cause you to feel rejected, unvalued, unwanted and unloved. You are very in tune with your soul.
But there is another part of us that is not so easy to grasp – the spirit. The main reason for this difficulty is the fact that your five senses cannot detect or pick up your spirit. Your five senses have no idea what your spirit is up to unless God’s Word reveals them to you. Your spirit is the part of you that God speaks to 24/7 (as a born-again believer).
Before you met Christ, your spirit was dead because of sin. ‘Death’ here means separation from God. Sin separates us from our Creator God. But when you believe and receive Christ into your life, your dead spirit is replaced by the Spirit of Jesus – the Holy Spirit (Gal. 4:6; Rom. 8:9). Once Christ comes into you, you (born-again Spirit) become one of God’s children (John 1:12; Rom. 8:14-17)
Your born-again Spirit is none other than the Third Person of the Trinity – God the Spirit living in you (see Gal. 4:6). Yet, you can be so sick or attacked in your body or your soul by the devil, world, your wrong choices……without your born-again Spirit helping you. How come?
Starting today we will explore God’s Word, which is the only place you will find the answers to how to release the Holy Spirit’s power (see Acts 1:8) from your born-again Spirit to your soul (mind, emotions, will, conscience, feelings, personality) and to your body. Once this revelation / truth gets hold of your mind (see Rom. 12:2) you can command healing, blessings, breakthroughs, victory, favour……God’s Word over your body and soul and you will get whatever you say!!! (Pr. 18:21; Mark 11:23-24)
