When I googled, “What is the purpose of life?” I received in exactly 44 seconds 5,730,000,000! Wow, billions of answers. No wonder there is so much confusion in the world!
But why talk about the purpose of (my) life?” Why do I need to know the purpose of my life?
Today’s topic is a question, “Is this all there is to life?” At some point in your life (if not already) you’ll ask this very question.
We are creatures of habits:
Wake up the in the morning, go to work, come home, watch TV, go to bed. Wake up in the morning, got to work, come home, watch TV, go to bed. Wake up in the morning, go to work, come home, go to the weekend parties ……you know what I’m talking about……a mundane life.
I remember long time ago when my wife Sandra lamented, “Surely there is more to life than nappies, nappies, nappies…..around then we had five children under five.
There is something very healthy about holy discontentment. Holy dissatisfaction. In many ways it is your Creator tapping on your shoulders to remind you that actually, you are here on earth for a purpose. You were sent to here with an assignment. You’re breathing right now for a reason. And everything is about God’s ultimate plans for your life.
Last week’s sermon concluded with this two-liner: It’s Not About Me. It’s All About God. This is the short answer to everyone’s quest for meaning or purpose of life.
Is this all there is to life? Be very glad if you are asking this question. You are on the right track. The short answer is – NO! Thankfully No. There is more!
