Last week we looked at the fact that God answers our prayers the moment we ask Him. But the answers are in the spirit-realm. God being Spirit means His answers are also in the spirit, realm.
To pull the answers from the spirit realm to the physical realm YOU MUST BELIEVE:
Now all that I have described above can be summed up in one word – faith! Faith is the bridge between the spirit realm and the physical realm. Faith is the hand that reaches into the spirit-realm and get what you want and bring it into the physical realm.
Faith is trusting, relying and depending. Faith in Jesus is trusting in Jesus, relying on Jesus and depending on Jesus. Faith happens when your heart is fully persuaded that GOD IS ABLE TO DO WHATEVER HE PROMISES HE WOULD DO, IN HIS WORD!
The good news is that God gave you His kind of faith the moment you became born again. That’s what Paul is saying in Galatians 2:20,
“I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.” (KJV). Note the words – ‘the faith of the Son of God.’ Think about its implications.
Paul is saying that the very faith that enabled the Son of God, Jesus, to walk on water, cast out demons, heal the sick, cleanse the lepers and raise Lazarus from the dead, is living inside of him! No wonder dead Eutychus came back to life when Paul embraced his corpse! (Acts 20:7-12). Paul certainly had the faith of the Son of God living in him! So do you if you are born again!
A father once asked Jesus to cast a deaf and dumb spirit out of his son. Jesus challenged the father saying, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.” (Mark 9:23, NKJV) Immediately the father of the child cried out and said with tears, “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!” (Mark 9:24, NKJV). And here lies one of the main reasons why we do not see answers to our prayers – we can have both faith and unbelief, simultaneously!
I often hear people say, “I wish I have more faith!’ or “I wish I have his / her faith!” or “I wish I have as much faith as you have!” The answer to all three wishes is – ‘If you are born-again, then you do! You do have the same faith as Jesus, Paul and Peter had! Romans 12:3 and Galatians 2:16 in the King James version say you that have the measure of faith. That’s talking about God’s kind of faith. God’s kind of faith stays full all the time! It never fluctuates!
The problem comes when your negative experiences, which is the foundation of unbelief, disagree with God’s Word. You want to believe that God can heal, protect, supply, help, give you peace, joy, hope……….but, your negative experiences which is the root of unbelief, are staring you in the face saying – ‘Yeah right, it didn’t work last time and never will!’ If you agree with those negative experiences, you will have aborted the answer(s) to your prayer right there and then, even before you say amen!
When past fears, memories of anxieties and depression, pictures of relational brokenness, flashback of financial crisis and other similar negative and painful past experiences fill your heart, they negate your faith. They stop you from trusting in Jesus. They stop you from receiving answers to your prayers.
As a born-again believer, you have the faith of God’s Son living inside of you (Gal. 2:20, KJV). Now this may surprise you but unbelief, CAN cancel out God’s faith in you! Doubt and unbelief can in fact stop the power of God from working in you!
Therefore, it all depends on ‘who’ (thoughts are entities in the spirit-realm who are speaking to you), is dominating your heart (where your belief system lives), while you are praying. The strongest conviction, belief, always wins!
In a nutshell, you do not need more faith, you need LESS unbelief!
One practical way to lessen your unbelief is to WATCH LESS TV and MEDITATE MORE IN GOD’S WORD! Today’s sermon will explore ways to decrease our unbeliefs.
